An exhibit of my semi-abstract paintings and mixed-media works is currently at the Short Term Gallery in Baker City, Oregon, through July. Brenda and I are dropping in Friday evening for the First Friday Art Walk, which takes place July 6th from 5:30 to 8:00. Come by if you can, I'd love to meet you--1829 Main Street.

This painting will be in a group exhibition opening this weekend called "Simply Red (2)", celebrating the grand opening of the new Mark Woolley Gallery in Portland, Oregon. The gallery is on the 3rd floor of Pioneer Place, 700 SW 5th Avenue. I'll be at the opening on Saturday, April 21st, 5-9 PM--hope to see you there. Sounds like it will be quite a party...Mark says, wear RED!
The painting is part of an ongoing series of works I've been doing off and on for over 25 years, inspired by the human and animal motion studies of 19th century photographer Eadweard Muybridge.

I've been playing with manipulating the paint using trowels and scraping tools. Each piece is done independently, then later I start putting them in arrangements like this. The search is for a visual narrative--a point where each segment starts rhythmically "speaking" to the others.
I plan to mount these sheets on cradled supports and then varnish, so they won't require framing under glass.
